hi! i was just stalking letters and i have to comment on your fairy tale thoughts to ask if you've ever seen or listened to the cast recording for the musical Into the Woods? It's a recurring popular Yuletide fandom; it's the partial inspiration for Shrek, Tangled, and god knows how many other similar stories; it's rumored to finally be greenlighted for a film after 2 decades; and it's Stephen Sondheim's most popular musical after Sweeney Todd.
It's absolutely brilliant, and it's exactly what you want in a meta-fairy tale. It's my favorite musical of all time, and I just had to stop and say OMG INTO THE WOODS!!!!1! at you. :)
